Lord of the flies flew over the cuckoo’s nest and continued his trip to a distant place while meeting various people on his road. I do not refer to the issues the two fine literature pieces address but to the pathway I chose a decade ago. Looking to explore beyond my hometown, I pursued my education and career in product management.

Who am I?

I am Petar Lejic (MA, if you prefer my name with the academic title). I am a husband and a father.

I am passionate about product management and enjoy writing fiction in my free time. If I were to make conclusions, my artistic talents for drawing and writing probably influenced my attention to detail in writing user stories for my product management part. Yet, product management consists of much more than just user stories.

If you think I just woke up like that, I didn’t. However, I invested a lot of time and effort to get where I am today.

I studied the English language and literature at the University of Banja Luka and pursued a master’s degree in the English Studies and the Creative Industries, and the EU studies at the University of Salzburg. Studying abroad has done wonders for me and my career and it allowed me to sharpen my language skills and experience multiculturalism. Thanks to my experiences, I landed a career at ITSP GmbH, where I gained valuable skills in product training and risk management, eventually becoming a Product Owner/ Product Manager. In 2022, I moved to Cashpoint Solutions GmbH, and in the meantime became a Certified SAFe® 6 Product Owner/ Product Manager after scoring 93% on the final exam, but also added Product-led certification to my portfolio. I am utterly excited to share my latest professional development, currently in progress, a specialized program in collaboration with the prestigious University of Alberta, ranked among the top 5 universities in Canada. It is introduced as the ‘Software Product Management Specialization‘ and available online through Coursera. From my major professional achievements, I would perhaps single out an e-learning coursework done while working with Intertops, a pioneer in online sports betting. However, I should definitely single out my most recent frontend and UX project including both web/mobile view and a brand new native app tailored specifically to match the latest ambitious project of Merkur Bets (formerly Xtip/ Merkur Sports), a German brand coming from the well-known Merkur Group, Germany. Yes, I am the product lead behind the new sportsbook look and feel.
